Day 01:
Arrival at the Lodge in the afternoon. After the long drive you can relax for a while in your beautiful spacious bungalow built in a rustic native design surrounded by gardens full of amazing jungle plants and flowers. A delicious dinner will be served in a romantic candlelight-setting at the attractively decorated restaurant. Afterwards you will enjoy a special welcome drink, relaxing yourselves around the elegant fireplace, to coordinate and discuss next day’s activities with the local crew. You’ll feel absolutely comfortable in this lovely peaceful setting filled with nightly sights and sounds of the Amazon jungle. D
Day 02:
After your delicious breakfast you’ll be ready to start today’s adventure! You will start with a canoe ride down the imposing Napo River crossing the enchanted Ecuadorian jungle. Soon you arrive at Misahualli, where you’ll have to stop for around 30 minutes for routine inspection by the local Marina officers (please have your passport at hand). You continue your canoe ride until you reach the Arajuno River. Here you will visit the Animal Rescue Center “AmaZOOnico”. This is a specialized organization dedicated to the rescue of wild animals and releasing them back into their natural habitat. You will observe a great variety of species such as toucans, parrots, all kind of monkeys, ocelots, capybaras and much more….
After your visit to this beautiful animal sanctuary, you’ll enjoy a scrumptious lunch by the river shore, picnic style. Afterwards, you can swim in the refreshing river waters o simply rest ourselves surrounded by the peaceful surroundings.
You’ll head back to the Lodge, making a short stop in one of the local indigenous communities by the Napo River. One of the native Quichua families will show you their ancestral costumes like gold washing, pottery techniques, the making of the typical drink “chicha” made of yuca (manioc) and blowpipe hunting. After this fascinating cultural exchange with the Quichuas, you’ll continue your way to Selina by a path through secondary forest. Upon arrival, a delicious snack will be expecting you. At night after dinner there will be some free time to gather around the cozy fireplace or enjoy an exotic cocktail at our bar. B/L/D
Day 03:
After breakfast you put on your “wet gear” (boots & rain coat) to start an exciting day-walk in the jungle’s primary forest ready to find the secret wonders of the mysterious hidden jungle, finding amazing plant species with medicinal properties, which will be explained by your expert native guide: their characteristics and how the jungle inhabitants used them in ancient times. You’ll also observe a great variety of insects, small groups of monkeys weaving around the giant trees; though you must stay very quiet to be able to observe these beautiful creatures. Dozens of curious colorful birds tag along with you during your walk whistling beautiful notes delighting your senses. After about three hours of walking, you’ll have a box lunch in the middle of the jungle, recovering energy surrounded by a fascinating environment. Afterwards, you will return along another trail, exploring the wonders of the jungle. Arrive to the Lodge in the afternoon. At night, enjoy a delicious dinner and time for relaxation. B/L/D
Day 04:
After breakfast, you depart by canoe upstream for about ten minutes, for a fun and thrilling one hour walk, exploring the jungle’s secondary forest diverse flora and fauna. At the end of this hike, you’ll find yourselves in a breathtaking cascade “Las Latas” where you can take a refreshing bath in the clear crystal waters and enjoy the surrounding views, which mixed with the jungle sounds, makes it a unforgettable experience. You return to have lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon you pack your bathing suits for an exciting tube ride along the Napo River, always assisted by your guide and canoe (safety is always first priority!). In about one hour, you arrive to Misahualli, where you’ll visit the local butterfly farm where several very rare species are grown in a save, colorful environment; learn about their metabolism, life extension and evolution; take a short walk around the farm surrounded by beautiful colors lighting up the place. Later you board the canoe again and head back to the Lodge. At night, dinner and gathering around the fireplace. B/L/D
